The illustrated works of author and artist Kris Waldherr are well-known to lovers of mythology and goddesses. Waldherr's book, The Book of Goddesses was the inspiration and basis for The Goddess Tarot, which has over 200,000 copies in print. An expanded tenth anniversary reissue of The Book of Goddesses was published in Autumn 2006, by Abrams Books.
Waldherr's artwork has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She received her BFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, which she attended on full scholarship. Kris lives and works in Brooklyn, with her husband, anthropologist Thomas Ross Miller, and daughter, Thea Delphine. In her spare time, she plays cello in an orchestra and enjoys travel.
Art and Words is Kris Waldherr's official, award-winning website – created by Waldherr. Art and Words is about combining two of the things that mean the most to Kris: art and literature. It's about mythology and magic, folklore and passion. It's about trying to understand ourselves and our lives through the use of ancient stories and interpretative new images.
